Ammo

Hunting is the process of killing Creatures with a weapon to collect Loot

There are many different weapons available, which can split into two groups:

  • Ranged Weapons (Rifle, needs additional Ammo)
  • Melee Weapons (Short Sword, Sword, Axe, Bat)

To determine what equipment you should be using at current levels take a look
at the page Skilling Ladder

A weapon can be crafted or bought from another player. Likewise, Ammo can
be bought as well. Ideally, Ammo should be crafted once you have collected the
required resources (Guide on Making Ammo) since it is more economical.

All Ammo types can be used on all Rifles. Different types of Ammo deal different
types of damage. This is needed because some creatures are resistant against
some damage types. If your weapon doesn't deal the expected amount of damage
(example only 0.5 damage) the wrong Ammo or the wrong damage type of
your Melee Weapon could be the reason.

Prepare Hunting

Place your weapon and additionally your Healkit on the quickbar.
To do this, open your inventory (Key "I") and drag the item to the
desired slot on the quickbar.

To load the rifle with ammo, drag and drop the Ammo onto the gun.
When the rifle contains ammo, you will see the amount of bullets
that are equipped (max.10k bullets). If you want to unload the rifle
double click on it. Note: You cannot equip different types of ammo
to the same weapon at once.

If you have a scope equipped on your weapon, you can detach ammo by
holding shift on your keyboard while double-clicking on the weapon's icon.
(same trick works for mining equipment for unequipping batteries/charges).

To hunt you will need to be in 1st person view. To switching to 1st
person view (press TAB). In 1st person mode, a crosshair will
appear in the middle of your screen. If the crosshair does not
appear, press SPACE.

To hunt, stand at a appropriate distance from the creature. A gray icon will
appear next to a creature's health bar when you are in attacking range. Aim
directly at the creature, your crosshairs should be fixed on the creature, if
not, you miss. Press the left mouse mutton to fire/swing your weapon at the
creature.

Above the Chat Window a Message will appear with Information about the
Damage you inflicted and the Damage you collected from the Creature.

Looting

When the Animal is dead you will see it's Corpse. Walk over the Corpse
to claim your Loot. A Window will appear stating the Loot you gathered.

Only you can loot the Creature you killed, also you can't claim Loot from
a Corpse another player killed. Not all Creatures have loot.

Creatures

Bolotoid
Bolotoid

Creatures are shown as red dots on your Radar. They can be killed and looted.

If you are unsure what to hunt, see our Creatures Section and take a look at the
damage Potential, Health and Maturity Level of available Creatures.

When hunting for the first time we suggest Slugroach, Molesaur, Elslug, Slugot
or Wolf. They are easy to hunt, inflict low Damage and can be killed with a small
Weapon.

Heal

Healkit
Healkit

Healkits are used to restore lost Health in or after Combat.

  • to heal other players, aim at them with the Healkit and operate it.
  • to heal yourself, ensure you are not aiming at another player and operate
    the Healkit.

Skill

Skill

Skills and SAU can be acquired by Hunting too. Skills make your
Character become better at his Activities and SAU are needed to un-
block a Skill after you reach next Stage on it.

It is recommended that you check the Info Window for the various Items.
by right clicking on them from the Inventory window.

  • Effectivness Level: Multiplier of Item Stats (Damage, Heal)
  • Skilling Rate: Percentage of skill gained by using Item

Team

You can create or join a Team to hunt with other Players together.

  • to create a Team invite other player (click him and choose "team")
  • each Team has his own Team-Chat available (used with /t Message)
  • Team-Options (and Button for disband) available at PDA (Key F9)
  • Loot will split (if possible) between players (according to damage made).
  • Explore different Hunting Tactics help (i.e. all Shooters or Shooter and Healer).
  • Nearly all Places are PvP, stand correctly to ensure you don't shoot a Team-
    Member.

Armor

Armor

Armor gives additional Protection against Damage.

  • There are different Protection Types available (Stab, Cut, ...)
  • There are different Absorption Stage available (S10, S15, ...)
  • The visual Style of Armor-Parts says nothing about Protection.

Scope

A Scope is an additional Item for Rifles to zoom sight (with Mousewheel).

  • To attach a Scope on Rifle drag and drop it on to Rifle.
  • To detach a Scope from Rifle double click on to Rifle.

Hunting Tips

  • Know the Range of your Weapon. Some Creatures move slower than
others. You can get shots on your Target before the Creature is in the
range to do Damage to you.
  • While shooting move backwards. An unarmed Creature will deal less
Damage since it must close the gap between the Creature and you.
  • Keep a close Eye on your Ammo and Health.
  • Hunt with Consideration for Others. Don't shoot your fellow Residents or
steal other's Creatures ... there are enough Mobs for all in AfterWorld!

Happy hunting!
