The in-game voice chat feature ("Green Ear") was added with VU Alpha 9.8.1. To use voice chat a headset is needed (or microphone and speaker).
There are four voice chat channels available:
- Private Voice Channel - one-to-one private calls, similar to private chat (uses a small amount of AWD)
- Team Voice Channel - voice conference calls for players joined in a team (free)
- Society Voice Channel - voice conference calls for players in the same society (free)
- Corporation Voice Channel - voice conference calls for players in the same corporation (free)
Based on the Default Key Bindings section, there are two additional channels that will be available at a later date:
- Event Voice Channel
- Political Party Voice Channel
The chat window shows the current voice status:

To use the Private Voice Channel, you will need to add funds through the Phone section of the PDA.
